Spring IS coming!

While our recent weather leaves us thinking otherwise, the children and teachers at Rivendell Preschool know that spring is on the way!  They can be certain because their Growing Connections curriculum guides and encourages weather watching, discovering weather patterns and learning about what plants need to grow in our toasty greenhouse or the school backyard.  This photo of the backyard provides the proof!  Spring blooming bulbs, planted by the children with Growing Connections teacher, Brigitte, and intern, Charlotte, last fall, are peeking out under the snow!

Rivendell Presents at Zero to Three Conference 2017

Rivendell’s Katy Hill, Denise Taddonio and Rosalie Woodside travelled to San Diego this month to attend the 40th Annual Zero to Three Conference where they presented a poster about the CORE Program at Rivendell Preschool. The CORE Program is designed to provide a highly individualized program of special education itinerant teaching and related services in conjunction with collaboration with classroom teachers. “From Peer Coach to Classroom Partner” Presentation

Rivendell Director Katy Hill, CORE Program Coordinator Rosalie Woodside and special education itinerant teacher Denise Taddonio will present their poster From Peer Coach to Classroom Partner: Lessons Learned in Including Children with Autism in Preschool this December at the Zero to Three Annual Conference in San Diego, California.  The poster documents the development of increasingly collaborative efforts among special education and classroom teachers as they work together to define their roles and share responsibility in the inclusive classroom.
